Unusual Golf Day Announced

Oldham Athletic have today confirmed the date of their ‘unusual’ annual golf day, The Latics Ryder Cup, as Thursday 13th April 2006.

The event, now in its second year will take place at the popular Manchester Golf Club (Hopwood) and will feature two legends acting as captains of the two teams during the day.

Captains are currently being approached, however an announcement on the former legends that will ‘skipper’ the teams is expected in the next few days.

Due to the popularity of last year’s event, four companies have already agreed to be title sponsors to the tournament. They are Official Car Partners Pennine Honda Group, kit manufacturers Carlotti, Cable Comms and accountancy and corporate recovery experts Unity Business Group.

For this tournament the Club is also allowing companies to sponsor the individual holes for the game and to date six companies have agreed.

Cost of entering a team of four in the tournament is £400 plus vat, which includes green fees and an evening meal with additional surprises planned on the day. Alternatively, companies wishing to sponsor a hole at the tournament can do so at £150 plus vat, which includes individual signage at the teeing area.

Commenting Sean Jarvis, Director of Marketing at the Club said: ‘Our new Ryder Cup format proved to be incredibly popular last year. So much so that we have now had 10 teams book their place for this years competition, which only leaves 8 more team places available. We are currently talking to two possible captains and I am sure that any supporter or sponsor that wishes to join in will not be disappointed and will have great fun on the day.’
