Inside of the final half hour of the transfer deadline window, Oldham have confirmed that one player has left us and another has arrived.

First up the departure.

Striker Jonson Clarke-Harris has left on a permanent deal for Championship side Rotherham United and Oldham have accepted an undisclosed fee to enable that to go through.

The 20 year old scored his first goal of the season last weekend against Doncaster Rovers and this will definitely present a new challenge to him.

Our Young Player of the Year in his first season with us, he leaves having made 55 appearances, scoring nine times.

Speaking to the official site, manager Lee Johnson said.

‘Jonson was a project that we brought in for nothing from Peterborough and we have a good fee for the player. We’ve done well with Jonson because we’ve looked after him and we’ve turned him into a real valuable asset. We wish him all the best and thank him for his hardwork and commitment and look forward to watching him flourish in his career.’

Johnson would’ve no doubt liked that money a few hours ago maybe.

15 minutes after confirmation of Jonson’s departure, we did however have an arrival to look at.

24 year old midfielder Michael Tidser joins us in the opposite direction, coming to us from Rotherham United, and he moves on a loan spell until January.

He is available to make his debut for us in the Johnstone’s Pain Trophy game against Bradford City tomorrow and the gaffer said.

‘We are looking forward to working with Tidser. This is a deal that suited both ourselves and Rotherham. Hopefully he can prove to us what he is about with the football we are trying to play.’

The midfielder began at Celtic before moving onto Greenock Morton. Having been nominated as the First Division Player of the Year in Scotland, he earned a move to Rotherham and spent the second half of last season back in Scotland on loan to Ross County.
