Latics last night climbed into 4th place, making it an impressive 3 wins on the bounce and highlighting the players character with them again turning round a 1 goal depicit.

The game brought forward Latics old boy Micheal Ricketts; the subject of frankly disgusting chants last time round. We’d all hoped for so much from him upon arriving from PNE, yet the one time England international was made a scapegoat due to his workrate. Fittingly, Ricketts scored to make it 1-1 after Mark Allott has opened the scoring with a deflected shot.

The visitors then took the lead through Nicholls, who got the better of loanee full-back Daniel Jones and beat the ageing Mark Crossley.

Latics were level though when Daniel Jones found the protaganist in tonight’s action, Lee Hughes; volleying past the keeper neatly from 10 yards.

In similar fashion to Hughesy’s first, Daniel Jones linked up with substitute Chris O’Grady before picking out Hughes in the box. The former WBA man finished past the keeper and Latics shut up shot from there to see out the game.

In Conclusion Latics had enough 2nd half chances to win it, but Micheal Ricketts again showed why he could of been such an asset at this level…be it for a different team!
