A good run of form was maintained by Oldham at the weekend but we couldn’t secure another win.

Oldham had the chances to beat Gillingham at Boundary Park on Saturday, the last coming in injury-time, but a failure to take these resulted in us having to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Danny Philliskirk and James Dayton both had good chances but were both denied by Gillingham ‘keeper Stephen Bywater.

Dayton also had another effort that was off target before Bywater again saved to deny Carl Winchester before getting a fingertip to a further Philliskirk’s effort to keep the scores level.

At the other end Paul Rachubka produced a good save to prevent Cody McDonald scoring the winner for Gillingham.

The game, a frustrating one for Oldham, was summed up in injury-time when Amari Morgan-Smith failed to hit the target when presented with another chance.

After the game Lee Johnson, speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, couldn’t believe the chances we won in a game that we were definitely the better side in.

He said: ‘A couple of the chances were unbelievable chances.

‘When we lost the ball, we generally won it back quite quickly.

‘Between George Elokobi and James Wilson they’ve been quite formidable.’
