Oldham have turned to Aston Villa to get a little something extra in midfield by taking Daniel Johnson on loan.

Johnson, who has previously spent time on loan with our boss Lee Johnson’s Dad’s club Yeovil Town, has come in on loan from the Premier League side until January 5th initially with him telling the official website that he had been impressed by us during his previous loan spell with our league 1 rivals Chesterfield.

On that occasion, during his spell with Chesterfield, he noticed plenty about our quality and has already said that he’ll offer us goals, saying: ‘They are a good passing team and we thought they did really well. We both deserved the point on the day and I’m here now to add my quality to Oldham.

‘I try my best and go out there and give everything that I have got. Hopefully while I’m here and I can produce the same form as I did there. You will see some goals from me.’

Goals from midfield are always welcomed so if the 22-year-old can deliver on that promise then we’ll enjoy his loan spell.

So far he’s not made a first-team appearance for his parent club, it would seem unlikely that he will but he’ll certainly be using this latest loan spell as a way of showcasing his talents.
