Oldham Athletic winger Joe Colbeck has been snapped up by league two side Hereford United on a free transfer.

Hereford manager Simon Davey signed 23 year old Colbeck on a two year contract that will keep him at Edgar Street until the summer of 2012.

Davey has been desperate to add to his squad, the latest acquisition takes the number of players on the books to 18 and Colbeck has experience. He has played at Bradford City and last season made 27 league one appearances for Oldham, but he was told he has no part in manager Paul Dickov’s plans.

The Hereford boss was delighted to get his man and told the Bulls’ official website: “Joe is just the ideal attacking winger we’ve been looking for throughout pre-season and I think he is the final piece in the jigsaw.”

Colbeck added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Hereford United. After meeting the manager I was convinced there was a bright future ahead at the club.”
