Wellens to play on

Oldham Athletic midfielder Richie Wellens will play through the busy Christmas period, despite having a medial ligament injury.

Wellens was replaced during Saturday’s draw with Chesterfield, but boss Ronnie Moore insists he is capable of coping with games and the injury.

He said: ‘He gets a little rest now which is good for us.

‘He will be okay for games, the only thing is that they are going to come thick and fast.

‘I would imagine he will probably play one and miss one.’
