Oldham have re-signed striker Oumare Tounkara on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.

Tounkara, who scored seven goals in 46 appearances when he was at Boundary Park last season for a term`s loan.

Manager Dickov paid tribute to Tounkara’s parent club for letting the player return to boost his squad.

He told the club`s official site: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to Sunderland, and Martin O’Neill in particular, who have been fantastic.

‘I had looked to bring Oumare back earlier in the season but that was not possible financially. But Sunderland have looked after that side which has now made it possible.

‘Oumare needs to be playing games so hopefully the loan will benefit both parties.’
