Manager Lee Johnson has said it was the perfect professional showing from Oldham as we put three past Rochdale at the weekend.

A brace from on loan Aston Villa midfielder Daniel Johnson, plus a penalty from Jonathan Forte secured us the comprehensive win and all three points in the derby, and the manager believes that with the confidence and the form of the group we can continue to maintain results and make a challenge for the play off spots.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager had to admit that until we got our noses in front there wasn’t an awful lot in the game, but he was delighted with how we played.

‘I thought it was a very professional performance from us. There wasn’t a lot in the game until the goal but I thought we looked solid throughout. I was really pleased with three or four individuals. The boys worked hard. They never stopped running right until the end and it was difficult for us. The 3-0 scoreline flatters us a little bit because of the state of the play but we were very professional and strong as a unit. We limited them to little chances for Paddy Kenny.’

Johnson continued to say that in his opinion though we can still improve further and he pointed to our passing on the day which is knows was no where near as crisp, sharp or accurate as it can be and it’s those improvements he’s now looking for us to make, so we do make the most of the opportunity in front of us.

Danny Philliskirk came in for special praise as he provided the three assists, and overall the gaffer had to admit though it was hard to find fault with the showing because we got from the game exactly what we wanted when we went into it.
