Oldham boss Paul Dickov cannot believe the mentality of some players after an unnamed player refused to come to Boundary Park on loan.

Dickov had been working hard to shore up his depleted squad after a run of bad luck in the injury department.

The Oldham boss had been working with the players club to get a deal for a loan period, but after his parent club agreed to a loan, the player refused the chance of playing first team football and maybe bettering himself from the experience.

The individual in question rejected the move to Boundary Park despite claims on Oldham’s official website his contract expires at the end of this season.

‘We worked 24/7 to get the deal done and wanted to look at the player for the last couple of months (of the season) with a view to taking him on next season,’ said Dickov.

‘He doesn’t want to play football and the mentality of players these days amazes me.’
