Oldham’s Sean Gregan made his comeback to the side in the win against Preston at the weekend, but he revealed that ankle problems could have ended his career.

The 36-year-old needed scans on his Achilles/ankle area which revealed that there was no less than nine problems.

Luckily for the player, a series of injections has seemed to get him back up to full fitness.
Gregan told the club’s official website: “It looked at one stage as though I might need an operation which would have kept me out until Christmas.

“It would have been very difficult to recover from that for someone of my age.

“I am delighted where I am at, though I am obviously behind the rest of the lads fitness wise. I will be working hard and putting in extra sessions when they are not to try and catch up.”
