Manager Lee Johnson has today added Preston North End midfielder Joel Byrom to the squad until the end of the season.

Subject to Football League confirmation, the 27 year old could be inline to make his Oldham debut this weekend in the game against Crewe.

Having come through the ranks at Accrington Stanley he has gone on to play for Northwich, Stevenage and joined Preston back in 2012 and so far has 184 career appearances under his belt to date, and in that time he has scored 25 goals. 141 of those have been starts.

In brief interviews carried by the Official Site manager Lee Johnson said firstly.

‘Joel’s come in to bolster us and adds a bit of experience at this level which is something we need.’

Byrom himself said.

‘It’s a good move for me, I know a few of the players here so it’s a good team to come into. I’ll bring a bit of experience to the team with my left foot, I like to keep the ball, create chances and hopefully I can nick a goal or two.’

He has been handed the No 24 shirt during his time with us.
