It’s higher league oppo for Oldham as the league cup gets underway for another season on Tuesday night.

Oldham entertain Middlesbrough, from the championship, at Boundary Park on Tuesday night (much like the ‘Capital One Cup’ will always be the league cup ‘SportsDirect.com Park’ will always be Boundary Park)….

New signing George Elokobi should make his full Oldham debut having come on as a sub in the two-two draw with Colchester United on Saturday.

Willie Gros and Amari Morgan-Smith are still awaiting their Latics bows, and they might not get them on Tuesday by all accounts?

Middlesbrough are without Ben Gibson (hamstring) but former England international Jonathan Woodgate could return after missing Middlesbrough’s championship opener with Birmingham City.

The sides haven’t met competitively since April 1995, on that occasion it was second tier meeting at Boundary Park that saw us win 1-0, that’ll do nicely again on Tuesday won’t it!

Middlesbrough did win the only previous league cup meeting 4-2 back in 1970 and Oldham haven’t got into the second round since 2008/09, will this change?
