It probably doesn’t have quite the appeal to many it once did (too many devalue it) but the FA Cup is still regarded by many as ‘the best cup competition in the world’, Oldham now enter the competition.

Oldham take on league 1 rivals Leyton Orient at Boundary Park this afternoon for a place in the second round of the FA Cup.

Lee Johnson continues to be without defenders George Elokobi (thigh) and Adam Lockwood (foot) due to injuries.

The boss could give ‘keeper Neil Etheridge his first start though but Joel Coleman (knee) is out.

Leyton Orient have Shane Lowry back but Darius Henderson is missing, both involved suspensions. Italian international Andrea Dossena (international clearance) misses out with doubts over Shaun Batt, Gianvito Plasmati and Jay Simpson. Lloyd James (broken leg), Romain Vincelot (knee), Kevin Lisbie (shoulder) and David Mooney (ankle) are all out.

We were beaten three-one by Orient at Boundary Park back in August but we’re a different outfit now and would feel this is a tie we should advance from!
