Oldham’s 2014/15 league 1 season gets underway with an away game at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday.

Lee Johnson will be looking for good things for Oldham this season; a start at Colchester isn’t going to be easy but represents a chance for a positive beginning.

Sean Clohessy and Ben Gordon were both signed this summer from Scottish clubs and should debut, West Ham United youngster John Moncur has come in on loan and is set to debut with Chris Lewington, Dan Holman and Dominic Smith all signed this summer too and pushing for starts but Tosin Olufemi (ruptured Achilles tendon) will be sidelined for months.

Plenty of changes have taken place at Boundary Park this summer, the loss of captain Korey Smith has seen Adam Lockwood installed but a foot injury means he’ll not be fit to lead us out at the weekend.

Jonathan Grounds, James Wesolowski and Smith are all tough to replace but former Colchester captain Brian Wilson was one that arrived and will debut against his former side with George Elokobi also a possible debutant.

Rhys Turner (grade-two hip flexor injury) will miss out.

An Oldham win to start?

I don’t think this can be taken as a given at all but my gut feeling is that it will be three points gained tomorrow….
