John Sheridan has moved to calm speculation that Lee Hughes, and others, could leave his club.

The Oldham manager has moved to silence this speculation following rumours that Lee Hughes could move to Doncaster: ‘No club has come in for any of our players. He’s very happy at the club,’ Sheridan told BBC Radio Manchester. ‘I think we’re trying to sort out a new contract out for him. I just want him to carry on and concentrate on what he’s doing.

‘If he can carry on scoring goals I’m sure it’ll put him even more in the spotlight.’

The 32-year-old has scored 13 goals this season and Sheridan will be hoping that this speculation doesn’t disrupt this goalscoring form.

Do you think that Lee Hughes will sign his new contract, let alone stay at Boundary Park?
