The game between Brentford and Oldham due to take place at Griffin Park on Saturday has been postponed.

A pitch inspection took place at 10:30 am and it was deemed that parts of the Griffin Park pitch were unplayable.

With the forecast for temperatures to stay very low over the next 24 hours, it seems obvious that the playing service would not be any different come kick off time.

Mark Devlin, Brentford Chief Executive, told the Bees official site: ‘We have simply been beaten by the elements.

‘The pitch covers we have at Griffin Park provide a limited level of cover but temperatures have dropped very low and the frosts have been severe.

‘We tried to bring in artificial assistance, like heaters, to make sure the pitch was playable but were unable to find a company that could help us this week”.
