Oldham are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performances by Brian Wilson in the Easter Weekend win and draw over Chesterfield and Burton respectively was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Wilson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Wilson excelled for the Latics over Easter, contributing towards clean sheets against Sky Bet League 1 table-toppers Burton Albion, and then Chesterfield three days later. The 32-year-old put his body on the line, notably producing a fantastic block to deny Lucas Akins in the 0-0 draw at the Pirelli Stadium.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Wilson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Trevor Carson (Hartlepool United), George Williams (Barnsley), Brian Wilson (Oldham Athletic), Michael Harriman (Wycombe Wanderers), Kyle Bennett (Portsmouth), Scott Brown (Accrington Stanley), Jason Kennedy (Carlisle United), Gavin Massey (Colchester United), Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe United), Jamille Matt (Plymouth Argyle), Ollie Watkins (Exeter).

Manager – Phil Parkinson (Bradford City).
