Gary Johnson isn’t fully accepting defeat in a bid to keep James Wesolowski at Oldham but isn’t too hopeful in him staying with the club.

Previously the Player of the Year had expressed a desire to stay at Boundary Park but the midfielder hasn’t put pen to paper on his new contract and Johnson has said that his agent is ‘plating hardball’ but their offer isn’t going to be improved beyond what is fair and affordable.

The boss is quoted in the Oldham Chronicle as saying: ‘We are probably looking at Weso not signing now. It isn’t definite, but his agent is playing hardball and we are set where we are.

‘I don’t hold out too much hope. It isn’t definite he won’t be staying, but the chances were 50-50 and have drifted to 70-30.’

Reports from Australia are saying that Perth Glory are looking to land the 26-year-old, as they look to take him back to his homeland.

Could Wesolowski really be leaving Oldham?
