Striker Adam Rooney has said that he feels the players can take a lot of belief from the way we matched Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup yesterday.

A one all draw has set us up for a replay which will be announced in due course, but Rooney believes we can take a lot of confidence from how we matched them and dominating in terms of possession overall, and now we just need to take that into the rest of the season and keep building on it.

Speaking to the Official Site Rooney described it as a very good performance overall from the team because it’s clear how good Wolves are, and he points to them being able to bring on two full internationals during the game from the bench in Kevin Doyle and Leigh Griffiths as proof of the strength they have.

‘They still have players who were with them in the Premier League and the wages some of them are on and the club’s budget is mind blowing – yet we out played them in parts of the game and were disappointed not to already be in the next round. We have to take the belief that we can play the way we did into the replay and go there and get a win.’

Clearly it also sets us up nicely for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash on Tuesday against Notts County and Rooney has said he’s looking for the squad to repeat that performance in that competition to so we can progress past the Area Quarter Final stage, and really go into the MK Dons league match with confidence sky high.

‘If we show the same attitude and desire we showed against Wolves in the next two games, I’m sure we will get through to the next round of the JPT and pick up three points on Saturday.’
