Oldham make the trip to the Bank`s Stadium to take on Walsall on Tuesday night and Paul Dickov will be looking for his side to go one better than they did on Saturday.

The home side will be without the services of midfielder Claude Gnakpa, he picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat at Notts County at the weekend.

Alex Nicholls could be recalled to the starting line-up.

Goalkeeper Jimmy Walker missed out altogether at the weekend to be with his heavily pregnant partner. But following the birth of his son on Sunday, Walker is back in contention to face the Latics.

Striker Will Grigg will also be pushing to start.

Oldham boss Paul Dickov could be looking at moving his defence about for this game.

Centre-half Zander Diamond is rated as doubtful after he was replaced at half-time during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dagenham because of a knee injury.

Bradley Diallo is still suspended following his straight red card against Huddersfield.
Midfielder David Mellor may be asked to play in defence should Diamond not make it.

Dickov told BBC Radio Manchester: ‘I don’t think it’s any secret I’ve been trying to bring Robbie (Simpson) in, and we believe if we get him fit he will score goals because he’s a Championship quality player.

‘We’ve got players to come in and good players to come in, and the one thing we’ll do is keep working at it.

‘I know we can play better, the fans know we can get better and most importantly the players know we can get better and that’s a good thing.’
