Manager Lee Johnson has called on the fans to trust his judgement as he continues scouting to try and find gems for us ahead of next season.

The 32 year old manager has recently returned from a brief scouting trip to Scotland, having seen success with James Dayton and Gary Harkins from north of the border and he told the Official Site that he believes Scotland can be a good market for the club for a variety of reasons.

‘There are a lot of good players up there that come into our wage bracket and they are keen to get into England. There are also a lot of good players out of contract in England and we assess them against our own players and try to improve.’

Johnson goes on to say that at the moment he’s got three or four players who figure heavily on his radar from abroad, and he’s ‘not frightened to go outside the box’ and bring somebody in who hasn’t experienced the English game yet, and whilst not everyone will work out how he hoped, recruitment is key and sometimes it’s worth taking a punt on somebody.

The gaffer does admit though we may have lost the fight when it comes to Player of the Season James Wesolowski.

‘It’s well documented that Weso is more than likely to move on even though the door is still open for him.’

Johnson confirms that the midfielder has had a very good offer from abroad, and he understands completely if the player takes it.

‘You’ll never hear a bad word said about West from me because he’s been a fantastic servant so far. We’d like to keep him if possible but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be like that.’
