Oldham 1-0 Portsmouth
23rd February 2013
Boundary Park

Oldham eased their relegation fears whilst virtually condemning Portsmouth to another relegation with a win over them at Boundary Park on Saturday.

A goal line clearance, and good save from Simon Eastwood, prevented Oldham from taking an early lead but the pressure told with The Latics’ goal not long in coming. Top scorer Jose Baxter (11) scored from range.

Portsmouth’s chances of a comeback took another knock early in the second half when Sam Sodje saw a straight red for raising his hands.

Against the 10-men Oldham hit the woodwork twice but the first half goal was enough to see them through to a 1-0 win, a third successive under caretaker boss Tony Philliskirk.
