This weeks visitors are Crewe Alexandra so shall we get to know them?

After relegation from the championship Crewe Alexandra failed to impress in there first season finishing a disappointing 13th. They have also started the 2007/08 season by failing to impress with some inconsistent performances and results.

Crewe Alexandra have always been known for there very healthy youth set up having seen players such as Dean Ashton move through the ranks and onto better things. They of course are no different now but it is safe to say that the imports that have come in have been useful acquisitions. Key players to watch out for in the upcoming match at Boundary Park are:

Neil Cox – veteran defender racking up more than 500 appearances in his career for clubs ranging from Middlesbrough to Bolton. Cox now captains Crewe and his experience is of great help to some of the clubs up and coming youngsters.

Eugen Bopp – a skilful playmaker and fans favourite, Bopp started his career at Bayern Munich`s youth academy and could prove a handful for Latics.

Lee Bernard – 23 year old loan signing form Tottenham Hotspur who was a regular reserve team player at spurs, scoring an impressive 18 goals in 19 games in 2004/05.

Latics fans may also remember towering centre back Julien Baudet who made 54 appearances for Oldham in a 2 year spell. Crewe snapped him up from Notts County in 2006 after rejecting a contract offer.

In previous fixtures between the two sides Latics have had the better luck winning 27 in comparison to Crewe`s 13 with a further 12 games being drawn. In 26 visits the railway men have won just 4 so Latics fans should be optimistic.

When Crewe come to town on Saturday, September, 29th make sure you are there and let`s get the Chaddy end rocking like it was at the end of last season.

Come on you blues!
