It isn’t always the case but more often than not if you have a good playing surface the football you’ll play on it will be attractive to watch.

This is what Lee Johnson will be wanting next season and with ‘renovation work’ starting on the hallowed turf at Boundary Park this week that will be the aim for next season.

Oldham boss Johnson’s namesake, Christian namesake, Lee Williams is the recently appointed new head groundsman and the official website reports him as saying that this will take ‘six-eight-weeks’ to complete.

Newcastle United will be the first pre-season friendly visitors to Boundary Park this summer and it is anticipated that this will certainly be done in time for that.
