Oldham Athletic have today confirmed that the loan spell of striker Jon Stead has now come to an end and he has returned to his parent club Huddersfield Town.

Stead joined us back on deadline day in an initial one month loan deal, and went on to play five times for us during this loan but unfortunately failed to find the net.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Lee Johnson said briefly of his spell with us.

‘I really enjoyed working with Jon and would not rule out doing so again in the future. I want to thank him for all his efforts on and off the field and wish him all the best.’

Well Johnson certainly isn’t closing the door to a potential future deal, but with the loan spell not being extended it’ll be interesting to see if he dips into the loan market again for somebody else now.
