Latics manager John Sheridan has highlighted 3 players he wants to keep at Boundary Park in the summer. Shez has targeted Andy Liddell, Mark Crossley and Gary McDonald as the players who he wants to keep at Oldham, with all three of their contracts expiring.

Shez had this to say ‘I’ve made it clear to Mark, Gary and Andy that I want to keep them…I think it’s 90 to 95 per cent we can do that.’

Fans have had the following opinions on the players:

Mark Crossley – has been exceptional at times this season and his experience is needed. However many fans would like to see another keeper come in to challenge Mark for the number 1 spot.

Gary McDonald – very good squad player at this level, but not good enough to be guarenteed a place in the first team each week. He scored against Everton to knock them out and will forever be in Latics history.

Andy Liddell – views have been very split, some say he is too old whilst others believe his experience and crossing ability is needed. Personally I think he is a top player to come off the bench at this level.

However, if these players are signed up, it will leave Latics with 16 senior players. This results in several players needing to be brought in. A player also out of contract in the summer is Stefan Stam and despite the odd blunders he makes has become a personal fave of mine, Shez has said nothing about his future.

If Stammy goes I hope he takes Thomo with him!
