Oldham Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper Connor Ripley in the scoreless draw with Millwall at the weekend at Boundary Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Ripley was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Not much needs to be said about the talented Mr Ripley, who takes his place after being named the EFL Star of the Day. Ripley was heading for a clean sheet at home to Millwall, but was then forced to face two stoppage-time penalties. He saved them both, and Oldham got their point.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Ripley for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the point.

Full Team:

Connor Ripley (Oldham Athletic), Alex Whitmore (Morecambe), James Chester (Aston Villa), Cameron Burgess (Bury), Jamie Murphy (Brighton), Josh Wright (Gillingham), David Davis (Birmingham City), Jota (Brentford), Conor McAleny (Oxford United), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town).

Manager – Paul Cook (Portsmouth).
