Latics finally beat Port Vale.

Yes that is correct! The team we never beat has been beaten, sure they’re bottom of the league but it’s still a good result.

The first goal of the game came from Latics new boy Jordan Roberston who signed on loan from Sheffield Utd. A superb half volley from a Livermore cross gave Latics the lead on 22 minutes and the new boy had this to say ‘I’m delighted to score on my full debut, now we need to kick on and produce a good performance on Tuesday night.’

Latics’ other goals came in the second half thanks to skipper Neal Eardley and youngster Matty Wolfenden. Eardley converted with 12 minutes remaining with a well struck indirect free kick, whilst Wolfy scored a classy lob deep into injury time.

With the end of the season drawing ever closer it would take a near miracle for Latics to reach the playoffs but there is still hope that we can become the Blackpool of this season and hit form. However with the inconsistency in results perhaps we should start building for next season.
