Oldham have pulled off something of a ‘coup’ by luring former Newcastle youngster Daniel Taylor to Boundary Park.

With the striking talent that The Toon have the 19-year-old wasn’t realistically going to break into their first-team anytime soon, despite being the top scorer for the U18 and reserves sides last season, so he was released last month.

Paul Dickov has convinced him to join The Latics with him signing a one-year contract with the option of extending this for another year.

According to reports Oldham managed to beat Scottish clubs Hearts and St Mirren to his signing as well as an ‘unnamed’ championship side and league one rivals Preston to his signature.
