When the season began Latics found it hard to find any real defensive stability, up stepped Stefan Stam and Neal Trotman to form a partnership that would help Oldham climb the table.

Oldham will now be without Neal Trotman when they face Everton in the FA Cup after the former Burnley man picked up a yellow card in the boxing day snooze-fest against Forest. This will therefore make the task of giant killing considerably harder as who will step up to the plate to keep Andy Johnson and Co at bay?

The two options that the club currently have are Reuben Hazell and John Thompson, however there is of course the possibility that Shez could dip into the loan market before then…Only time will tell.
