Having initially passed an earlier pitch inspection, despite Oldham’s groundstaff and a host of volunteers’ best effort the game with Yeovil tonight is off.

Boundary Park was under several inches of snow earlier today, with the help of all the volunteers the groundstaff managed to clear the pitch and the game was on!

A fresh covering of snow fell this afternoon and this meant it wasn’t possible to clear the surface again and the game was called off.

Despite the postponement Chief Executive Neil Joy, as he told the official website, was full of praise for the efforts of so many: ‘Volunteers and groundstaff worked hard throughout the day, but ultimately their valiant work was in vain.

‘Despite every effort being made, they were finally beaten by the weather.

‘On behalf of the club, I would like to thank them for their efforts to try and get the game played.’

A new date will be set shortly.
