O’Grady Nets for Reserves

Latics reserves came out on top against a local Bury side and the game provided fans a further opportunity to weigh up the good and bad points of the Chris O’Grady and Craig Davies partnership.

The pair started Latics’ first game of the season against Milwall but have since failed to form a partnership to oust the in-form Lee Hughes and impressive Lewis Alessandra. After impressing in pre-season together, the 2 forwards were joined again last night in the hope of gaining a stronger bond.

The fitness building exercise showed potential for the pair as both converted in a 2-1 win. The first goal came from O’Grady after Kieran Lee picked him out.

Later in the game Bury were back on level terms with a goal from Pizzica, 6 yards out.

Latics adapted well however and managed to earn victory with a goal from Craig Davies as the Wales international finished a neat volley.

Latics saw out the game to claim a 2-1 victory and the front pairing looked good in parts, offering extra pressure to the first team.
