Oldham Athletic have today brought in goalkeeper Neil Etheridge on a short term contract, although the deal is still subject to Football League clearance.

The former Fulham and Chelsea stopper has been training with the club recently and made an appearance in the behind closed doors friendly against Bury last Tuesday.

The 24 year old has also had spells with Charlton Athletic, Bristol Rovers and Crewe Alexandra and he comes to us as a full Phillipines international.

His short term deal runs until December 30 and he goes straight into the squad to face Bristol City this Saturday.

Speaking to the Official Site about the signing, manager Lee Johnson was pretty pleased.

‘It’s a good signing for us. He has a decent reputation in football and he’s a good goalkeeper that is lacking a bit of experience. He comes in to push Rachubka for the number one spot.’

For the length of his stay with us, Etheridge will wear the number 38 shirt.
