Versatile David Mellor has today left the club to have a month out at Conference Premier side Alfreton Town.

The 21 year old has come through our youth tanks but has only made one substitute appearance for manager Lee Johnson so far this season, our game against Middlesbrough, and the decision has been taken to allow him out on loan for a short period to get games under his belt and help his continued development.

Having made just under 50 appearances all in for us during his career so far, the gaffer explained to the Official Site that he felt the spell away from the club would do him the world of good given he’s not directly in our plans at the moment.

‘Dave had a summer knee injury and has been chasing fitness ever since. This is a good chance for him to go and get games under his belt to benefit all parties.’

Mellor actually made the move last night and has already made his debut for them, with the midfielder starting the match and being substituted eight minutes from full time.
