Fresh from signing his 12 month extension, the 32 year old said he was delighted to have secured his immediate future because he’s enjoying his time at Boundary Park and he feels valued here.

Having signed for us back in the January window, Lockwood went on to play a key part in the turnaround in our form in the second half of the campaign, making 19 appearances, and scoring twice.

Speaking to the Official Site Lockwood explained that his original deal did have an appearance clause that would lead to new talks for a fresh deal, so he was confident something would come off as he was pleased with his form and the way the squad really started gelling together.

‘I enjoyed my time and it’s a great club to be at so there is no reason not to stay. I feel valued here and I want to give value to the club and be part of its future. My whole family have been made welcome here which is another important thing for me so long may it continue.’

Having picked up two yellow cards and being sent off on the final day in the draw with Notts County, Lockwood will now miss the opener for 2014-15, and although that’s a disappointment for him, he knows the players will be ready for the challenge they face and hopefully we can make some headway up the table during the season.
