Last night Latics were beaten at home by Bristol Rovers 2 goals to 0. Darryl Duffy and Byron Anthony scored the second half goals that sealed the game for Bristol. The only change to John Sheridan’s side was that Danny Whitaker replaced Kevin Maher.

Oldham went out and took the game to Bristol in the first half, winning a penalty early on but Lee Hughes failed to convert the spot kick and Dean Windass hit the crossbar.

But the second half was a different story with Darryl Duffy scored not long after the break on 48 minutes, but this was against the run of play as Bristol never really created any chances. In the 64th minute Byron Anthony added to Bristol’s lead and finished off Oldham.

Oldham manager John Sheridan spoke to the official web site about the game.

‘We should have been 2-0 up at half time, very disappointing performance in the second half’. He went on to say ‘They weren’t in the game and we were so comfortable, but we didn’t take our chances and in the end we paid the price for that’. Shez added ‘The players are making things dificult for themselves and difficult for me. But I am the manager and any critism should come my way’.

A very disappointing result considering where we are in the table, our position should fill the players with confidence, but clearly it’s not, as we were defeated by a team lower position yet again, which was also not good considering how good our home form has been so far this season.
We need to start getting some wins and now it will be very important to do so as we have some big games coming up and we need points to cement our position in the playoff spots.
