Oldham keeper Alex Cisak has nothing but praise for striker Shefki Kuqi and says his enthusiasm is infecting the other players.

Paul Dickov persuaded the 34 year old to come to Boundary Park after he had been released by Newcastle United, the pair used to be in the same team at Blackburn Rovers so they know each other well.

Since then, the Finnish international had helped Oldham to a four-match unbeaten run before Saturday’s defeat by Brentford.

“He’s been brilliant from the moment he came in,” said Cisak to the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s scored goals and been a great leader on and off the pitch.

“He’s helpful with the young lads, giving them tips, and even the older players are learning from him.

“He brings loads of experience, which was something we were maybe lacking at the start of the season, but now overall the squad looks quite strong and quite deep.”
