Oldham return to action this weekend having had a free weekend last time round due to Sheffield United’s continued involvement in the FA cup where they lost at the semi final stage, which is something the Latics can relate to.

The club are off to Colchester United on Good Friday and as much as Lee Johnson would have sooner played last weekend he can appreciate the benefits of having not had a game with it also helping some players recover from injury.

Johnson knows that Colchester will pose a tough challenge but believes that knowing their strengths and weaknesses if these can be exploited they have a chance with confidence high going into this game

The Oldham boss told the official website: ‘I saw Colchester play Stevenage last weekend. They are a good side and they have threats.

‘On their day, the front four are very powerful, quick and lively. With their best 11 out, they are a match for anyone.

‘We have to see whether we can explore the weaknesses on the day but we go there full of confidence.’

The squad is looking in good shape and with the players training hard he’s under pressure on who to select but knows this is a good pressure to be under.

He added: ‘We are in a good place squad wise but I know that can all change. We can’t afford to have injuries to key players.

‘A couple of players have been putting real pressure on me with the way they have been training recently.

‘It’s a nice pressure to have because I’ve got people knocking on my door telling me they are ready.’
