Manager Lee Johnson has said Oldham had more than enough chances to beat Bristol City yesterday, and we really need to be more clinical in front of goal.

Speaking to the press following the game, Johnson said we had more than earned victory on the day, we just couldn’t find the goal that would’ve given it to us.

‘I’m disappointed not to have won. We have to make more of our pressure. The strikers need to get across their defenders better and sometimes our decision making with the final ball let us down. But we are a good side when we play as we did and I can’t be too critical of them.’

Johnson added again that Bristol City are a much better side than their current league position and form suggests, so he was even more pleased with our overall performance given we dominated for large periods of the game and we controlled things, but in knowing that, it’s even more disappointing to not see us hit the final whistle with a win and all three points in the bag.

As for Johnson personally returning to his former club, he also thanked their fans for the warm welcome he received prior to kick off and even laughed off the nepotism crack that came from the stands given he played for his dad whilst there. But he clearly wishes them the best of luck for the future, believing things will turn around for them sooner rather than later again.

As for the result, a win would’ve been justified and preferred but at least we addressed the loss to County by getting back unbeaten as hopefully that’ll be the start of another little run for us again.
