Manager Lee Johnson has admitted the second half in the game against Leyton Orient was ultimately what killed us last weekend.

Oldham did take the lead through another Jonathan Forte goal, but Orient quickly replied and then took the game with two second half goals.

A very unhappy manager told the Official Site following the game.

‘We looked dangerous in the first half but we came out after half time and were dopey, there were individual errors and the first ten minutes killed us. I thought we were very good in the first half, we looked solid defensively, compact and we put pressure on the ball. It’s so frustrating because there were some good parts in the first half but for some reason, we haven’t been mentally strong enough to prove it over 90 minutes.’

Johnson goes on to say that Forte was ‘terrorising’ their defence in the opening period and for him that should’ve pegged them back and given us midfield to really dictate the play, but we let it go too easily and stepped off ultimately, so he has no problems with fans who went home frustrated because that’s exactly how he felt.

With Port Vale up next, Johnson said he knew it would be another tough encounter but he was looking for a lot better from the players who he recommended went home and took a good look at themselves in the mirror so they make sure they get it right on Tuesday.
