Manager Lee Johnson has said he’s looking for Oldham to continue their run of back to back wins when we face Fleetwood Town this weekend.

With Oldham grabbing our second victory in as many games in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Bradford City through a late strike by Jordan Bove, Fleetwood on the other hand lost to Morecambe and suffered their first defeat of the season.

Speaking to the Official Site Johnson said that he was expecting a very close and tough game, but he wanted us to keep our current unbeaten run going.

‘They have had a great start and they’ve carried the momentum over from the previous season. They have made some really good signings and had a go a bit financially. Graham is a young manager that has done well and they will be full of enthusiasm. They have rested quite a few of their players for the weekend so they will come here bright and fresh. It will be a good tight game and quite a tactical battle.’

Johnson goes on to say that they also have some players in good form and they have plenty of threats, so for the fans he thinks it will be an exciting game, but one that he’s determined we get the points from.

As for our own form, he’s obviously delighted to have seen us pick up back to back victories now and he wants us to build on it now because he wants to see us far higher up the table than we are at the moment.

‘It’s still early days yet. I’m happy with the recent form and defensive display that I’ve seen but going forward I do expect more in front of goal.’

Johnson says in the games so far we have had good opportunities to have scored at least eight or nine more goals so clearly finishing is something we need to improve upon if we are to achieve what we want to this season, but he also knows in some ways we are still a work in progress and improvement should be a consequence of continued training and confidence anyway so he’s not overly worried.
