Manager Lee Johnson has said he’s expecting a very tough encounter against Notts County this weekend, but it’s a game he wants to win.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game Johnson acknowledged the improvements that opposite number Shaun Derry had made to the Nottingham club since he arrived there, but he was confident that not only could we extend our unbeaten run, he was confident we could do so with another three points.

‘Shaun has done very well to take a club that was almost down last season to coming here and keeping them up so it will be a tough game. He’s got a good squad now and it’s his squad against my squad and we hope to have a good game. It will be a tense and tight game, like they all are, but both teams will feel they will get a result.’

Johnson goes on to talk about their threats in attack and he feels they have a good blend of experience and youth, like we do, which will stand them in good stead but for him it’s important we pick up the win.

‘We all feel that we have improved on last year. It’s a tough league and it’s really close at the moment so the next few games will determine whether we can kick on. We have just got to go into this game taking the confidence of good performances and put in a winning performance.’

In team news, Jonathan Forte was still to be assessed when the gaffer gave his interview but he could be back in contention for this game and James Dayton was also to be assessed following the knock he took in our last match.

In longer term injury news, Skipper Adam Lockwood has also admitted that his recovery from the injury sustained in pre season is going well, and he’s even a little bit ahead of schedule, so he doesn’t feel it will be long now before he can return to light training and then try and get his own season underway properly.
