Manager Lee Johnson has said he couldn’t have been happier with Oldham’s turn of fortunes over the last week.

Three victories, three clean sheets and Oldham have jumped into the top half of the division, and speaking to the Official Site Johnson couldn’t praise the team enough for their efforts in recent games, and he was obviously delighted to see Jonathan Forte grab his fifth goal of the season, moving him into joint place at the top of the League One scoring charts.

‘What a difference a week makes. Seven days ago, everyone was as low as a snakes belly but three wins later and everyone is riding high and I’m delighted. It was a really tough game (Fleetwood) again but I thought we had the chances to put it to bed. I’m pleased with the squad throughout.’

Johnson goes on to say with Dominic Poleon coming in, and performing so well on his debut, the gaffer feels he’s very unlucky to not have opened his account for us as well and he feels he could already have two goals to his name if he’d been a bit more lucky.

‘Tuesday was a tough game mentally and physically so to come out here and put in that performance shows we have great spirit. It was a tough game for everybody, including the fans. I thought certain members through the core of our team were excellent.’

Another player coming in for praise was Carl Winchester who was voted the club’s player of the month for August, and Johnson said that having had a great pre season behind him he’s performing at a ‘Championship’ level at the moment and long may it continue.
