Manager Lee Johnson has said the point we gained away to Leyton Orient last night was a good point for Oldham.

Having come from behind in the game right at the death via a Korey Smith screamer, the goalscorer obviously took many of the plaudits, but Johnson was also delighted to see the whole team keep battling away until we got something from the match and extend our unbeaten run to the last three games.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained.

‘It was a great strike. It just looped into the top corner and I thought Korey was brilliant. I was pleased for him because he hasn’t scored enough this season for what quality he’s got. The midfield three were superb in the first half, the subs in the second came on and made an impact. I was pleased with them.’

Speaking more generically about the result itself, the gaffer goes on to say he felt it was a ‘great point’ with how the game played out, because he didn’t feel we played that badly on the day so certainly deserved something from it, and could’ve even taken the lead in our first half play, although he had to admit they had chances as well.

‘If we can continue that energy and get somebody to stick the ball into the goal then we will be fine.’

As for the goalscorer himself Korey did his own interview following the game, and having netted his second goal for the club he said he couldn’t have been more delighted to have found the net again, especially as it meant a good solid point for us.

‘I caught it perfectly on my foot and it was a really nice connection. I was really buzzing when it went in. It was nice to get my second of the season, I’d like to add more to my game so it was nice, but the most important thing really was that it was a very valuable point.’

Smith, having recently returned from injury himself said, really the difference over the last three games has been the belief in the camp as against Leyton Orient for example everyone went into it believing we really could get three points and it’s just unfortunate it didn’t pan out that way for us.
