Oldham will face a championship test following the pairing with Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup next season.

The league cup draw saw Oldham draw the championship outfit with them coming to Boundary Park for the first round tie, which does give Oldham a good chance of causing what would be considered an ‘upset’.

Lee Johnson knows that the challenge ahead of his side will be a ‘big test’ but is looking forward to it and has challenged his side to ‘look forward’ to the game, which he’s sure they will.

Johnson told the official website: ‘It’s a good game against quality Championship opposition. I’m looking forward to meeting Boro’s manager as I have heard many good things about him.

‘It will be a clash that will be a big test for our players but one they should look forward to.’
