The weekend marked the end of an era for Oldham and Jon Guy.

Guy had been the clubs physio for the past six-and-a-half years but his time with the club came to an end at the weekend, and before the Peterborough United game so he didn’t travel with us as we travelled to London Road to take on our league 1 rivals.

Positively though he was happy to bow out with a win, after our three-two win over Scunthorpe United the weekend before.

He told the official website: ‘To go out with a win last week was special. It seems surreal at the moment because it does not feel like I’m leaving. I’ve not travelled with the squad to Peterborough today so it just feels strange them being there and me being here.’

Guy revealed that he had been ‘feeling the love’ on Twitter, which ordinarily he’s lucky to get any interaction with!

He’ll miss the club; miss the people he has worked with and most of all the match days themselves, which isn’t a surprise at all.

The treatment room has been left ‘clean and tidy’ and is ready for the next physio, who Guy feels will come in with the club left in a good position, adding: ‘I like to think I’m leaving the club in a good position. I’ve left it clean and tidy for the new person to come in and I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time here.’

Everyone connected with Oldham will, of course, thank Guy for his service during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.
