Defender Jonathan Grounds started the game against Leyton Orient tonight and clocked up his 100th Oldham Athletic appearance as he did so.

Having joined us in the summer of 2012 from Middlebrough as a free transfer, the 26 year old has now clocked up 198 games in his career which also included loan spells out at Norwich, Hibernian, Chesterfield and Yeovil before he arrived at Boundary Park.

Of those 198 games, 100 have now come for Oldham, and all have been starts as he is yet to make a single appearance for us as a substitute across any competition.

In that time he has also scored three times for us, bringing his career total to eight goals.

Congrats, and the first 100 of many more to come you would assume.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of kick off, the player said.

‘Luckily I’ve been lucky with injuries and I’ve managed to keep myself fit. It’s a great achievement for myself but hopefully it will be thre points for the team. Coming here two years ago, it isn’t something that I’d have imagined but it was something that I needed and I’m happy to be here.’
