Danny Philliskirk had been left frustrated this season at his lack of goals, well no goals! That was until Saturday.

His brace, having come off the bench with Oldham two-one down turned the game in our favour and ended up with us beating Scunthorpe United three-two at Boundary Park.

Philliskirk admitted his frustration at not scoring prior to this, as well as admitting some relief at ending the drought too with him also ‘delighted’ to end his baron spell.

He told the official website: ‘I’m delighted to get the goals. It’s been frustrating on a personal level despite going seven games unbeaten because I’m in the team to score the goals and it was a relief to get them.’

With us playing with a ‘better tempo’ in the second half this helped us turn the game around, he hailed the character showed but modestly played down his own role with his goals by saying that he was lucky that the ball fell in the right position for him to score, you could argue that he was in the right position and that isn’t lucky!

Now that we’ve extended our unbeaten run to seven games, and we’ve moved up to 10th in league 1, he has an eye on promotion.

He feels we can ‘easily’ do this, adding: ‘We can get promotion easily. There has not been a team this season that has outplayed us I don’t think. We have been unlucky in the last three games to not turn those draws into wins.

‘We go to Peterborough now and hopefully they will be scared of us following the run we have been on and hopefully we can get the win.’

The longer we can keep this unbeaten run going, the better the chances are we can manage to do exactly what he feels we can.
