They say three’s the magic number but for Lee Johnson this magic number is actually four.

Oldham require another four points from their final five league one fixtures according to Johnson with him of the impression that this will be enough to ensure another season at this level.

With Sheffield United in FA cup action this weekend the Oldham game with them had been postponed until the end of the month, meaning they don’t play again until the meeting with Colchester United on April 18th by which time the four-point gap between the Latics and the bottom four could be cut?

Johnson is confident that four-points will be enough and that these can be gained with relegation avoided.

The Oldham boss told BBC Late Kick Off North West: ‘We have to stay focused because there are five important games coming up.

‘That win [on Saturday] was very important because we didn’t want to be touching the relegation zone come the next time we play, which is on Good Friday [at Colchester].

‘We’re probably going to need four points to make sure of survival. I’m confident we can do that.’
